Oh, Thy Men

Oh, thy men,
Why are we born?
Are we born to run,
Or are we born to burn?

Are we born to learn,
Or merely born to earn?
Are we born to win,
Or are we born for kin?

Do we rise with pride,
Or just drift with the tide?
Do we seek the skies,
Or hide behind lies?

Do we carry the flame,
Or chase hollow fame?
Do we fight to be free,
Or beg on our knee?

Is our journey a quest,
Or just fate’s cruel jest?
Do we live to create,
Or surrender to fate?

Men of stone, men of clay,
Why do we walk this way?
Is it power we crave,
Or peace that we brave?

Oh, thy men,
Before you die,
Live a life
That makes them cry.

Oh, thy men,
The truth is plain:
Not in the glass of wine,
Not in the loss or gain.

Not in the weight of pain,
Nor in the hollow chain,
The truth -Is love that will remain.

with love,
